Video & Social Media Producer

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a part-time Video Production & Social Media Assistant with GrowHaus Studio. This position is ideal for college students or recent college graduates looking for hands-on experience and an opportunity to build a killer portfolio.

Our firm is making a conscious effort to improve the digital content that we post on internal social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube. This position will focus on shooting and editing video content, but it will also include planning and production elements. You’ll meet our small team at our cozy office in Uptown New Orleans or on location somewhere in the city, and do most of your work remotely. The successful applicant will also be available as needed for still photography to cultivate our social media channels.

We're casual and informal but we work hard and work responsibly. A pleasant and supportive demeanor goes a long way.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in videography and editing for social media, film, or journalism,

  • Capable of operating DSLR cameras, audio equipment, and lighting (owning a camera is a plus)

  • Available to work a part-time schedule each week, with the flexibility to work at the select weekend and/or holiday shoots

  • Reliable transportation

  • Marketing or entrepreneurship background a plus, but not required - especially for ideation and planning experience

  • Proven work experience as a video editor

  • Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop)

  • Experience in other multi-media production platforms (web sites, animation, graphic design) desired.

  • Familiarity with Digital Media and Branded Content

  • Experience with social media and digital marketing tools

  • Ability to work with a variety of different people, work styles, and content.

  • Must be able to lift and carry objects required for a video shoot - lighting and camera equipment, props, etc.

  • BA degree (or in progress) in film studies, cinematography, video editing, journalism, marketing, or any other related field

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Shoot and edit video content for the firm’s digital platforms

  • Video content may include but is not limited to: advertising and instructional videos, team footage, event coverage, and social media-tailored multimedia content

  • Assist in the production process, storyboard development, and general concept ideation for all video projects

  • Handling catering for a video shoot, as well as any prop and styling, runs that need to be done before or during a shoot

  • When needed, take and edit photos for social media platforms, website, and print

  • Use various types of videos and gifs to tell stories across multiple platforms and for multiple types of clients.

  • Take a brief to grasp the production team’s needs and specifications

  • Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the video

  • Perform non-linear editing using Adobe Premiere Pro software and designs After Effects as needed including motion graphics, layout, and animation

  • Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects

  • Generate, edit, publish and share engaging content daily (e.g. original text, photos, videos, and news)

  • Reformatting sequences for vertical video, organizing and archiving projects and creating smaller projects from start to finish.

  • Ensure individual brand consistency across social platforms

  • Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and the industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.

 

Web & Social Media Apprenticeship

What you can expect to do:

  • Editing image sets and or video content

  • Adding keywords, especially easily searchable terms or wording

  • Correcting and editing captions, keywords and metadata

  • Website mapping and UX/UI prototyping

  • Sourcing and uploading interesting and engaging visual content to the site

  • Responding to messages and comments from viewers/users/contributors

  • Cropping, lightening and color-correcting images

  • Video editing, converting images, and creating GIFs using Photoshop, Premiere and After Effects

  • Producing generic and campaign-specific graphics and video for social media.

  • Assist in the design and execution of a variety of projects Prepare files for print and web

  • Ability to work on multiple projects while managing time efficiently Able to work independently and in a team setting Ability to think creatively and communicate ideas to the team

 

What we’re after:

  • Experience using DSLR (and relevant equipment) for quality photography and videography (Owning a camera, a plus).

  • Experience working with website builder platforms like Squarespace.

  • Resourceful and self-motivated

  • Able to think outside of the box.

  • Knowledge of social media platforms and the variety of content that is successful on each of them.

  • You are passionate about entrepreneurship, technology, and digital storytelling.

  • Knowledge of how to promote campaigns on social media

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator).

  • A passion for creative marketing, digital advertising, or multimedia

  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines.

 

What is needed to be considered:

  • University or college undergraduate studying marketing, visual journalism, film, or any related major(s).

  • Ability to accept credit hours as a part of compensation (freelance opportunities available on an as needed basis).

  • Own laptop

  • Must be able to travel to our office in New Orleans for at least 8 hours per week. Candidate can work remote, with at least 2 hours of in office time a week. 

What you need to know about this position:

  • This is an unpaid position with a 6-month commitment.

  • Opportunities for commission: During your term you will get first dibs on any overflowing projects outside of the normal workload. You'll be paid as an independent contract. This is only on an as needed basis.
